Not your average Alphabet game

Background:  In the alphabet game, both players take turns speaking, each one using the next letter of the alphabet as the first letter of the first word they speak.

After dating a guy in my improv comedy class for a year, we were scheduled to do a recital show for 250 of our friends and relatives.

William and I were cast together in the alphabet scene which I thought was a little strange because despite our off-stage chemistry, we never really clicked that well in scenes together.

The audience suggested we were a couple having a fight over money. he began the scene with a sentence that began with "A" and I continued with "B" and so on.

Finally, when we reached the letter "I", William started stammering words, none of which started with "I".

"Just spit it out," I said, moving on to the next letter, thinking I'd try to continue the scene.

Suddenly, William's character proposes marriage. "What a dumb way for the scene to go," I thought. "This would never happen in a real argument between couples!  Plus he was supposed to start the sentence with a K word."

When he pulled out an engagement ring and got on his knee, I realized this was for real (probably long after the audience did).  Of course, I answered yes, but, being a professional, I said, "Kangaroos couldn't keep me from marrying you!"
