Audience joins the team

Background:  In "Theatresports", two teams compete against each other, judged for points by the audience or official judges for points.  Generally, there is a bench on either side of the stage, one for each team.

It was a typical Friday night at The New Varscona Theatre, with a very enthusiastic, and, well, intoxicated audience.

We had just taken our places on the benches for the second half of the show, when the door from the lobby, (which is immediately to the right of the stage) opened, and a "latecomer" entered.  Instead of going to his seat, this rather large football player/redneck type guy stumbled himself right on to the stage, and onto our bench.  Right next to me. He didn't cause too much of a problem, and so we just accepted the fact that he was there (hey- always say yes, right?) and continued on with the show.

At one point when the other team had the stage, our team was trying to come up with a response to their challenge.  In the process of doing so, I had to lean behind the very happy, laughter-ridden audience member..  As I was consulting with my team mates, my head was dangerously low behind the guy. Little did I know how dangerous!

About 30 seconds into our brain storming, I got quite the, well, shock, when the guy let out the loudest expulsion of gas that I had ever heard -- and only inches from my face.  In fact, the rest of the audience (properly placed in their seats), and the other team even heard.  I broke into hysterical, astonished laughter, as did the audience.   Our guest remained blissfully unaware of which way the wind blew and enjoyed the show so much that he even took a bow with us at the end.
