"KIDding Around with Improv!"
at Grant Elementary School |
The fun class that teaches on so many levels!
Where in your child's development program is
the curriculum for:
Improv is so much more than theater (though there's nothing wrong with a little development in speaking skills, stage presence, and story development).
The ability to handle things as they come up, with flexibility and grace,
pays for itself ten-fold throughout one's life. From
job interviews to dealing with strangers to
reacting in emergency situations to
dating, improv training develops a part of the
brain that is only accessible through PLAY.
(see
www.IMPROVentures.com/funclass to learn more
about how we develop this in adults)
One of the greatest parts is watching the children get so excited about what they are creating, when there's no playbook, no equipment, no instruments: it's brilliance that comes from their own minds alone...with a little guidance from Mr. Milo on how to bring it to life.
If your child isn't the most imaginative or outgoing, this is a wonderful way
to tap into skill sets that may not have had the right venue for exploration
yet.
If you child is wonderfully imaginative and a real showcaser, this will help him/her find new ways to express it that will channel back into school performance (ask me about a study of the long term effect on grades and school attitude by teenage improv students at Palm Springs High School)
